Orlando has seen plenty of growing pains over the years as ‘The City Beautiful’ goes from tourist trap to major metropolitan hub.

According to a study by Wallethub, Orlando ranks poorly in regards to how it’s run. In a ranking of 1 being the best run city and 150 being the worst, Orlando ranked at number 105.

Washington D.C. was last on the list and Nampa, Idaho was first. The glaring here is that smaller metros scored higher while the larger metro areas with the exception of a few scored lower.

The study looked at things like violent crimes, vehicle fatalities, traffic congestion, job growth, and underemployment rate.

Orlando ranked in the middle of the pack in the job sector, and crime and traffic congestion Orlando raked towards the bottom.

WalletHub analyst Jill Gonzalez said, a large contributor to Orlando’s poor ranking is crime and safety. “Orlando ranked poorly in safety. The city has high crime incidents rates (9.41 violent crime incidents per 1,000 residents and 60.16 property crimes per 1,000 residents), as well as a high number of motor vehicle fatalities at 10.95 per 100,000 residents.”

Orlando wasn’t the only Florida city that did poorly on the list. Miami, Ft Lauderdale, and Jacksonville ranked below Orlando while Tampa, St Petersburg, Tallahassee, and even Hialeah fared better.
